The Queens Speech, when the Queen reads her script prepared by the Prime Minister, and normally serious men walk around with Wands wearing Tights.
Loving the ‘pomp and circumstance’ of the State Opening of Parliament where ‘Monarchy is on show’ and the point of our Monarchy is to be ‘on show’. The ceremony is full of history, with Heralds, Lord Chamberlains, Gentleman of the Black Rod, Men in tights, and women in Tiara’s – the whole this is about show, one place where the Queen, if anywhere, cannot be upstaged – but then came Dennis.
Tradition has that ‘Black Rod’ goes to the House of Commons, has the door slammed in his face, and then commands the House to attend the Queen in the House of Peers, the Government and the Loyal Opposition dutiful process out to attend the Queen in the House of Peers – one thing that wasn’t supposed to happen is a leftie MP, who had my undying admiration well before this incident , says, very loudly:
Jubilee Year, Double Dip Recession – what a start
But that is the difference between Dennis Skinner and David Cameron, Dennis is over awed by ceremony, he is not beholden tot the establishment and that is why Cameron cannot argue with him, he does not have a political weak point to exploit, he is an independently minded MP, and we need more MP’s like him in the House of Commons.
Listening the Queens Speech her Government is going to do a lot help their chums in business, reform legislation and tribunals which will create a charter for bullies in the workplace – I am setting my stall out early here, in Germany they have equal protection for workers and their economy is in growth, and the society is functioning, this legislation will only further polarize society, and will not make it a better place to live, just a more efficient place to be exploited in.
Also her Government mentioned something about freedom of speech and then went on a couple of bullet points later to say they will introduce legislation to snoop around social media without consentt, this is truly a duplicitous Government, and I am not sure how Nick Clegg can stomach being in the same room with this man – unless he really is Tory.
The Governments claims to be libertarian whilst seeking more and more powers to snoop into private, this is just wrong, it is what fascist states do.
This Government has not listened to the OccupyLSX protests of last year, they have not listened to the needs of the poeple, whether it be regarding NHS or Health – in short this Queens Speech might as ended with the words of Marie Antoinette:
oh, and no mention of Gay Marriage, that’s going to be a toxic omission.
