Mr Tomlinson
I would like to register my shame of the British Parliament as it has, over the first two weeks of 2012, showed itself to be ‘not fit for purpose’ and should be sacked, immediately.
Firstly we have the continuing saga of Aidan Burley associating with Nazi Party Goers and the Government, and David Cameron, doing absolutely nothing (double negative I know, but I was educated under a Tory Government), yes he was sacked from an unpaid job, which doesn’t mean anything, he still in Parliament – and I find that absolutely disgusting.
I am with the last paragraph you want to jump in with the Twitter storm over Diane Abbott, and I was one of the first people to say she should have resigned and ‘done the right thing’ – I don’t think anyone in their right minds thinks she is actually racist, just silly – so I am not advocating dual standards. I note the other the Labour Twitter Tsar resigned over an inappropriate, but culturally contextualised, You Tube sketch on the Scottish First Minister – perhaps you could bring this attention to Aidan Burley to show what people with standards do when they have made a mistake. Aidan Burley is not just bringing Parliament into contempt in this country, but also in France.
We were then treated to the ‘Prime Minister’ not only making light of Tourette’s suffers by likening the Shadow Chancellor to having the syndrome, not being insulting to a member of Her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition, a Member of Parliament but also totally failing to understand the syndrome and enforcing the popular myth that Tourettes is about verbal swearing / ticks – does David Cameron realise he is not in the changing rooms of Eton anymore and that he has a serious job to do?
His apology was as ‘limited’ as his mate Clarkson’s was, just a form of words to avoid admitting he was wrong.
His attitude to the disabled is further, and demonstrably underlined, in the Disability Living Allowance, a shocking and totally reprehensible piece of legislation that will put people who are living on the ‘edge’ under further pressure and worry in worrying times. I would suggest you buy a copy of Aneurin Bevan’s ‘In Place of Fear’ for yourself and David Cameron, on why the Welfare State was created before you go dismantling it – but the point here is that the DLA is another sign of contempt for those less fortunate or living with a disability.
David Cameron’s outbursts do show nothing but contempt for those beneath the status of 5th Cousin to the Queen.
Yesterday we had Cameron, and he has done this on this several occasions, call a Member of the House of Commons ‘a dinosaur’ – this is a man who was serving the people of Bolsover whilst Cameron was with his Bullingdon Club chums – has David Cameron no respect for anyone who does not agree with him, or asks uncomfortable questions?
I cannot respect the occupant of No 10 anymore than I can school ground bully, he needs to apologise fully and STOP BEING INSULTING to people, and take their concerns and opinions seriously.
I hope these concerns will be presented to David Cameron for his comments
Regards
Andy Ducker
